VSONOMA Unleash "The One": A Bold Debut That Defies Reality!

VSONOMA, the alternative/modern rock outfit hailing from Malang, has officially dropped their debut single, "The One." Once known as Baka Ranger, the band has evolved from covering tracks to crafting their own sonic identity. Packed with razor-sharp riffs, dynamic grooves, and raw, emotive vocals, "The One" is now streaming across all Digital Streaming Platforms (DSPs) as of April 1, 2025.

Formed by Tirta Prakoso (Vocals), Galih Priyomukti (Guitar 1), Patrick Lesmana (Guitar 2), Rio Hotland Marpaung (Bass), and Septian Prasetyo (Drums), VSONOMA knew they wanted more than just playing other people’s music. "Life is temporary, but a legacy lasts forever." says Prasetyo, emphasizing the band’s hunger for originality.

Inspired by The Matrix and the idea of reality as an illusion, "The One" questions existence itself. "Do you wanna live a comfortable lie or a harsh truth?" asks Tirta, whose lyrics blend thought-provoking philosophy with anthemic intensity. The track’s foundation came from Galih’s riff, which Patrick and Tirta quickly built upon. "We were just jamming, Galih threw out a killer riff, and we just ran with it!" recalls Patrick.

Drawing influence from Periphery, Spiritbox, and Bilmuri, VSONOMA doesn’t aim to replicate their sound but instead takes cues from their innovative approach to blending metal with accessible melodies. The result? A fresh, modern fusion of crushing heaviness and soaring hooks.

Guitarist Galih channels the progressive styles of Mark Holcomb (Periphery), Olly Steele (ex-Monuments), and Ryan Siew (Polaris) to craft intricate yet gripping riffs. But the road to "The One" wasn’t without obstacles. "The biggest challenge? Ourselves, haha!" admits Patrick. Rio adds that mastering new picking techniques on bass proved to be a steep learning curve

Early reactions to "The One" have been overwhelmingly positive. "People say it’s still easy listening, even with the metal edge." says Patrick. And this is just the beginning. Galih hints that their next track may take on a more emotional, heart-driven theme.

For new listeners, Prasetyo hopes the song resonates. Rio adds, "This track is an expression of who we are. If you love it, awesome. If not, that’s cool too!" Meanwhile, Patrick cheekily urges, "If it’s not enough, tell us. If you dig it, tell everyone else!"
