D-beat madness!!! INLANDER!!! @inlandermusic @oef_asia @world_tour_2013

Taking to heart the slur of Indonesia's past colonial rulers, for driving punk/metal four-piece INLANDER, the colonial era continues on with people slaves to ideas instead of foreign powers.
Releasing their punishing statement of intent with their 2011 debut album, "Para Bellum", a decade after they initially came together, these caustic crossover punks are working hard on their follow-up, so whether you get new songs or old songs, you'll get righteous anger every bit as vital at OBSCENE EXTREME 2013.

Grind For Better Life!!! PROLETAR!!! @oef_asia @world_tour_2013

Grinding hard in uber-righteous style, Jakarta, Indonesia's volatile young shit-kickers PROLETAR never sit still and never waste time.
This three-piece have seen a total of 9 people join the band since they formed in 1999. But if they're working them too hard, it's been worth it, releasing splits, EPs, compilation tracks and albums all over the world, and with bands as diverse as Mincecore grindfathers AGATHOCLES and Italian noisecore heavyweights BESTIAL VOMIT.
Whatever chaos unfolds at OBSCENE EXTREME 2013, you can guarantee PROLETAR will give it everything they've got.

Interview – Obscene Extreme Organiser Talks ‘World Tour’

(copying from http://moltenmagazine.com/2013/02/interview-obscene-extreme-organiser-talks-world-tour/ )

Obscene Extreme is more than just a festival; it’s a community. Forgive the cliché but really that statement couldn’t be closer to the truth and any OEF attendee will attest to it… It’s one of those sayings you often hear in the metal community about this festival or that festival but for those that attend Obscene Extreme annually, the community’s spirit is on a whole new level.
In 1999 one man from Czech Republic stepped up to create a festival with a full bill of extreme metal and grindcore after growing disheartened with the fact that there was no current open air satisfying his own personal tastes. He took it upon himself to make it become reality and so Obscene Extreme was born.
Every year the festival has grown and grown and one thing stands right in the middle of it, that same man, Curby. Personally booking every single band, dealing with every single aspect of the festival, Curby works around the clock throughout the year. This year marks a massive milestone in the festival’s history and sees Curby take Obscene Extreme worldwide. For 14 years the festival has been held in Trutnov, Czech Republic but this year the festival goes to three additional locations in Asia, America & Australia!
When we were offered the rare opportunity to offer our questions to Curby we couldn’t let the chance slip. We talk about everything from the expansion to the organisation to the crazy stories that make up the Obscene Extreme Festival history and more…

Hi Curby, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. How is everything coming along for Obscene Extreme 2013? You must be pretty busy, right?
Hello! You’re more than right; I’m mega busy these days as I’m trying to set up everything for every single festival. On the other hand I’m really happy that I started this big project, reactions from the fans are insane. Especially people in Mexico and Indonesia, they’re very happy that we’re coming their way as it’s not so easy for them to travel to our headquarters in Czech Republic. Also I can see how strong the underground movement all around the globe is. I have received many emails from bands from China, Nepal, Vietnam, Korea, Philippines, Costa Rica, Cuba, India, South Africa and the best thing is that some of them will even play our festival this year!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cwl-OgJJRFk

This year you’ve expanded into 3 additional countries! Tell me more about this, where did the idea come from, was this the dream for some time?
I had that idea in my head [for] quite a few years… during the last decade I was travelling a lot with some Czech bands in South America and South East Asia and even when I went to Indonesia for the first time, I was like “Wow, these fans deserve their own good festival!” This year we will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the festival in Czech Republic so it’s the right time to come close to all of our loyal fans… I picked the countries for the American and Asian festivals very carefully. Australia was a sure thing [laughs] and in the end I chose to do it in Mexico and in Indonesia because those two countries deserve to have a good open-air festival.

Why did you choose these countries?
I really believe that Mexico, Indonesia and Australia need a real DIY festival with a good vibe, something different… I have seen some shows in Indonesia myself and it reminds me of when I was a kid when it all started here in Czech back in 1988 or 1989. Right after the revolution we all were full of passion for music, what a great time and I think you can still feel something from it in Indonesia, the same in Mexico. The fans are so passionate during a show it’s incredible! And there is nothing at all in Australia so to bring the OEF down under is another natural step. Another plus was that I have good friends in those countries that helped me a lot to make it real.
It must be pretty hard to organise everything… you must have some local help I imagine in each country?
Absolutely, without their help I could do nothing, but still I do all the things in Czech like picking up and booking all the bands, doing budgets, logistics, preparing a festival city and so on. All the guys that work with me in each country are long-time OEF veterans, they have been at OEF Czech a couple of times and they understand what it means to be Obscene and Extreme.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Po2LQPAcdSo

If this year is a massive success do you think you’ll make it even bigger in 2014?
To be brutally honest I have no idea, we’ll see. I want to do all the OEF’s this year as best we can, then we will decide what will be in 2014. But as you know nothing is impossible. OEF is still a very underground DIY festival so I don’t want to wear pink glasses. We don’t have any big sponsor that could help with promo and so on and actually it’s a good thing as well, we can do what we really want and book bands we really like.
Realistically where do you see the festival in five years?
[Laughs] An even better question!!! No clue at all… I do want to keep organising OEF as long as I can, it’s simply my music. I‘ve loved it for a long time and I want to pay it back now and help the scene to grow up in a healthy way.
You started this back in ’99, you must have a lot of good memories but maybe even some bad ones! Can you tell us any crazy stories that have happened over the years?
D.R.I. was a shit story. I paid all travel expenses, I paid all the fees upfront (even though there was a pay 50% now and 50% after in the contract), but their manager pushed me to the wall and I had to pay another 50% just before the fest. You know the story… just the singer and the drummer arrived and played with a Czech guitarist and their roadie Mike on bass and it was only a 20 minutes show. I was happy even for that… Anyway their singer Kurt told me they would figure out the fee when they were back in the USA, but they just didn’t answer my emails and their manager called me a loser from the third world. This is a real lack of respect. I feel it’s just a rip off, shit happens of course I totally understand this, but taking all the fee, no sorry or an explanation about what really happened? I still don’t know, I can only speculate about it.
We also had a huge storm back in 2001 but all went great, after a two hour break we started to play again and after the storm Exhumed or Haemorrhage just smashed it all with one of the best live shows I have ever seen!
On a positive note; last year I really enjoyed the Nasum show. It was one of the top three shows of my life, really, no kidding! And believe me I have seen thousands of gigs… I had tears in my eyes when Nasum started to play their famous song ‘Inhale/Exhale’ with a chorus ‘Obscene/Extreme’, fans went totally crazy and me too. I even did some wild stage diving! Maybe the first time at the OEF [laughs]! Also we were together with my girlfriend on the stage as a wedding couple in gasmasks at the beginning of their show with the intro from ‘Inhale/Exhale’ album (actually my most favourite Nasum record!). Another unforgettable moment of my life! I think I couldn’t have been happier, everything went awesome.
I could also tell stories about drunk as fuck bands, especially from
Scandinavia, but I have to be discreet [laughs].

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QQLaQTC95c8

Over 500 bands have played at Obscene Extreme over the years, is there anyone you haven’t managed to book but would love to play sometime?
Yeah, over 500 bands have already played Obscene Extreme! But it’s not the final goal; we want to have 666 bands [laughs]! As for bands, probably Bolt Thrower!!! I’m trying to bring them every year but no luck at all, they play one or two festivals during the summer season and so far their choice was other festivals…and Impetigo for sure, or Repulsion…and ABBA as well, love them!
ABBA? Ok… [laughs] One final question for you. For anyone who hasn’t heard or been to Obscene Extreme how would you describe it?
Obscene Extreme is simply another world, it’s not like any other European festival… It’s a festival with a different vibe and spirit, you can stage dive, you can be really freaky all day long and just have fun with dudes like you! It’s all about music we all love. You can feel that passion for music in the air! Check out a video at our own Obscene Extreme YouTube channel and you’ll understand what I mean. It’s also about masks, did you see the grinding bananas for example?
Do you want something absolutely different? Do you want a life experience? Do you want to meet people that like music as you do from all over the world? Then you don’t need to think anymore, come to OEF and have fun!!!
That’s all from me! Thanks a lot for your time Curby!
Thank you!!! Check out our website www.obsceneextreme.cz and join us!!!

Hell Of Feeds

Embrio kelahiran scene musik rock underground di Indonesia sulit dilepaskan dari evolusi rocker-rocker pionir era 70-an sebagai pendahulunya. Sebut saja misalnya God Bless, Gang Pegangsaan, Gypsy(Jakarta), Giant Step, Super Kid (Bandung), Terncem (Solo), AKA/SAS (Surabaya), Bentoel (Malang) hingga Rawe Rontek dari Banten. Mereka inilah generasi pertama rocker Indonesia.
